January 3 - January 7

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Health:  Students will identify the major functions and parts of the Male & Female Reproductive Systems.

            Students will identify the terms associated with pregnancy and will sexplain the stages of pregnancy. 
 
            Male/Female Reproductive & Pregnancy Vocabulary QUIZ on Friday.

PE:  Students will be in the Weight-Room for Physical Education.  Students will be introduced to all of the machines in the weight-room and will be given a proper demonstation before they start their exercise programs.  Students will work in stations and will rotate around the weight-room during class so each student gets a chance to get a full-body workout in. 

PE GRADES ARE BASED MAINLY ON PARTICPATION.  SIMPLY CHANGING YOUR CLOTHES DOESN'T MEAN YOU WILL BE RECEIVING FULL CREDIT!!!!

January 13 - January 17

Health:  Students will be finishing Chapter 6, the unit on Body Systems.  They will take an open notebook exam on chapters 1 - 6 (Nervous, Circulatory, Respiratory, Digestive, Muscular, Skeletal, and Excretory Systems.)  We will begin discussing the male and female reproductive systems towards the end of the week. 

PE:  Basketball - Students will be particpating basketball activities that involve using dribbling, passing, and shooting skills.  Students will have the option of playing different basketball games that involve knock out, around the world, horse/pig, shooting competitions, or small-sided games. 
GRADES FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION ARE BASED ON PARTICIPATION - SIMPLY JUST CHANGING YOUR CLOTHES DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE RECEIVING FULL CREDIT!!!!

Health:  Body Systems of the Body. - Skeletal, Mucular, Digestive, and Excretory Systems.  The students will identify the major roles of each body system and understand how they work together every day. 

PE:  Basketball - Students will be particpating in dribbling, passing, and shooting activities.  Students will also be playing small-sided games of basketball.

PE:  Students will be starting the unit on Basketball.  Students will practice dribbling, passing, and particpate in shooting games. 

           >  Students are graded on particpation!  Simply just changing your clothes does not get you full credit.

November 22 - November 24

Health - Students will be taking their first test on Chapter 1.  All of the material on the exam will come directly from the student's notes.  The material from Chapter 1 is all about the Health Triangle which is made up of Physical, Mental, and Social Health.  Also, it discusses ways to achieve overall wellness by practicing healthy behaviors.

After Thankgsgiving Break - Body Systems and Male/Female Reproductive Systems. 

PE:   Volleyball (LAST DAY) - Students will be playing small-sided volleyball games.  Students will be practicing the skills of volleyball such as bumping, setting, serving, and spiking before the games and then will apply the skills to a small-sided game.

November 15 - November 19

Monday, November 15 - No School - Teacher's In-Service Day

Health - Students will be completing their mental health writing prompts about the health triangle (Mental, Social, and Physical health).  All students were given a scoring rubric that they will be graded on.  Rough drafts will be submitted after another student in the class has made corrections to it.  Final drafts will be typed in the library on Friday and will be submitted to Mr. Wartella.  Also, final drafts will be posted to Mr. Wartella's Wikispace.

PE:  Volleyball - Students will be playing small-sided volleyball games.  Students will be practicing the skills of volleyball such as bumping, setting, serving, and spiking before the games and then will apply the skills to a small-sided game.


Health:  Mental Health Issues - Working on and discussing the health triangle which is made up of Physical, Mental, and Social Health.  Students will understand why balancing all three sides of the health triangle will help lead to a healthier life.

November 1 - November 5

PE:  Students will be finishing up the Soccer Unit on Monday and Tuesday by playing small-sided soccer games.  The marking period ends on Tuesday, November 2 so we will be moving onto our Volleyball Unit for the remainder of the week.  Students will be practicing the basic skills of volleyball which are bumping, setting, spiking, and serving during lead up activities before we start playing small-sided games.

Health:  Monday and Tuesday (1st Marking Period) - Students will be working on an Emergency Contraception worksheet and will be receiving their final grades in Health.

Wednesday - Friday (2nd Marking Period) - Students will learn the rules, regulations, and expectations for Health Class.  Seating charts will be assigned and we will begin discussing the Health Triangle which involves Mental, Social, and Physical Health.

October 25 - October 29

Health: Students will be watching "Philadelphia," which is a movie about AIDS.  The students will be asked to take notes during the movie and will complete a writing assignment related to the movie and STD's at the ends of the week.  The marking period end on Tuesday, November 4 so students will be recieving final grades by next week.

P.E.:  Soccer Unit - Students will be taking part in soccer activities and playing small-sided soccer games.

Health - Students will be working on STD research projects in the library.  Students will be researching a given STD and creating a power-point presentation.

Physical Education -  Due to rain, students will be finishing the football unit.  Students will be playing ultimate football and flag football
