Let's Make it a great 2015-2016 school year!!

For the first week of class the students will not be changing their clothes in Mr. Wartella's Physical Education class.  On day #1, students will learn the rules & regulations of  the class and will be put into their seating squads.  Due to construction issues with the school, the locker rooms are not ready yet and therefore, students will not have a place to change into their PE clothes.  Students will only need sneakers and will take part in moderate activities in the gymnasium or go on walks at the track. Next week, students will start their first unit which is the 1 Mile timed unit and cardiovascular endurance unit at the track.  Like every unit, the 1 Mile timed unit will last about 3 weeks and students will take part in walking and jogging activities at the track to help improve their cardiovascular endurance.

All activities in physical education are designed to keep students engaged in fitness activities that promote a healthy lifestyle and life-long participation.

(IF THE WEATHER DOESN'T PERMIT OR THE IS NOT ENOUGH GYM SPACE FOR A GIVEN ACTIVTY, STUDENTS WILL TAKE PART IN AlLTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES IN THE GYMNASIUM SUCH AS BASKETBALL, WALKING, BADMINTON, DODGEBALL ETC.)

Complex Team Games - Football / Soccer / Frisbee

For the next two Physical Education units, students will be taking part in football, soccer, and frisbee activities.  Students will take part in lead up activities for each sport and will eventually take part in small-sided team games against each other.  Students who are not ready for team games will have the option to continue working on lead up skills such as passing or catching while the team games are going on.  Also, two small-sided games may take place at once as well and students will have the option to pick what they like more.  For example, there may be a football game and a soccer game going on at the same time, especially in the bigger classes.  Offering the option of participating in lead up activities and offering a different game option provides differentiation in the lessons.
