September 16 - October 28

Complex Team Games - Football / Soccer / Frisbee

For the next two Physical Education units, students will be taking part in football, soccer, and frisbee activities.  Students will take part in lead up activities for each sport and will eventually take part in small-sided team games against each other.  Students who are not ready for team games will have the option to continue working on lead up skills such as passing or catching while the team games are going on.  Also, two small-sided games may take place at once as well and students will have the option to pick what they like more.  For example, there may be a football game and a soccer game going on at the same time, especially in the bigger classes.  Offering the option of participating in lead up activities and offering a different game option provides differentiation in the lessons.

Welcome Back!!

For the first few days, students will be explained the rules and expectations for Physical Education this year.  A rule sheet will be sent home and parents/guardians will be expected to sign it.  Also, students' heights and weights will be taken within the first few weeks of school for the nurse.

For the first unit, which will last about 3 weeks, students will be taking part in a cardiovascular exercise unit that involves walking and jogging around the track.  Students will be timed in the 1 mile jog at the end of the unit, but a set time will be be expected out of students.  Like everything we do, as long as the students give their best effort, they will receive full credit for the unit.
